The G1 gateway collects advertising data from iBeacon, Eddystone, Bluetooth LE sensor and other Bluetooth LE devices and then sends it to your server by HTTP(S) or MQTT using WiFi or Ethernet. A RGB LED strip shows the status (starting/started/not-connected/connected) and can be turned off via settings.

The gateway is based on the Mediatek MT7628 580MHz, 128M bytes DDR2 RAM and 16M Flash. It runs OpenWrt 15.05 Linux distribution for embedded devices. The Bluetooth LE part uses the Nordic nRF52832. This configuration provides concurrent scanning and processing up to 200 Bluetooth devices per second. The maximum range is 300 meters in open space but this depends more on the range of beacons being detected.

The gateway has two USB 2.0 Host Connectors an on/off push switch and is powered by Micro-USB or PoE. It uses 340mA or 290mA if the leds are turned off.

Configuration is via a web interface hosted within the gateway. The configurable data collection settings include the upload method (HTTP(S) or MQTT), server URL, upload interval, upload data type (JSON or binary), RSSI filter, Bluetooth name filter, MAC address filter (RegEx), the cache time when disconnected (0-60 secs), whether to upload duplicates, whether to upload (each of iBeacon, S1, Unknown) and a whitelist for specific MAC addresses.
